As we get older, the skin around your eyes (which is already delicate in itself) loses elasticity. This we know and this many of us have come to accept. But, what about those under-eye bags? Those don’t always come with age, and yet, many women start to experience in their mid-20s.
After listening to a few of my friends get worried about the bags under their eyes, I figured a little research on treatment for under-eye bags couldn’t hurt. So, here goes.
Try applying chilled or cool tea bags
This can basically help reduce swelling under the eyes. It may not be a permanent fix, but this can help if you’re experiencing heavy swelling and want a relief. Chilled black tea bags are a hit for under-eye bags. You can also try chilled cucumbers!
Invest in an eye cream that contains retinol
Retinol can help firm the skin overtime. Philosophy’s Miracle Worker Retinoid Eye Repair cream is a hit in biz. But, it is expensive, costing $68 a bottle.
Try a professional chemical peel
While this is a bit more invasive than say a chilled tea bag or eye cream, a chemical peel can help tighten and firm the skin. It can also promote growth of collagen and elastin.
Go the permanent route, and get them surgically removed
This is the most invasive, yet permanent way to get rid of under-eye bags. While many doctors now inject acid fillers to diminish the appearance of under-eye bags, you can still get them removed. What you’ll basically be doing is having fat pads removed from under your lower lids. This is a very sensitive surgery, so please consult with many doctors before you think about this permanent option.
