Don't be afraid, you just might nail a compliment!

If you’re like most women, you probably resort to the same color of nail polish every time you go get a manicure. And if you’re not wearing the same color, you may be wearing similar ones. Just like finding the perfect foundation, we usually find the perfect nail polish and stick with that one. But the summer time is all about playing around with beauty and having some fun.

Check out 5 unusual; yet super chic color we recommend for you fly Black women.

It’s citrusy and bursting with flavor! We can’t get enough of the semi-neon color on brown skin. Live on the wild side and try Chillato by Essie this summer.

Okay fine, this isn’t unusual. But, it is one of the best colors for Black women of all shades. So, if you find yourself to afraid of orange but too bored with red, get comfortable with coral. Our pick: the Formula X For Sephora Nail Color in Here Comes the Sun.

Sea Blue

Ah, reminiscent of the summer pool water and clear beach H20, this shade of blue almost looks as though you’re rocking nature on your fingertips. While it’s a tad bright for some corporate offices, we can’t help but think that a quick nail color change for the weekend beach trip is out of your league. Give the OPI No Room for the Blues creamy nail polish a try.

Bursting Hot Pink

Go a little bit girly with a super hot pink splash of color on your nails. It’ll just make you feel better on those humid days where all you want to do is lay down and pass out. Our favorite at the moment is the luxe Marc Jacobs Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer in Shocking.

Clear/Natural Glitters

Remember when we’d do the most and add glitter on top of a nail polish color? This season, we don’t do that. We, instead, coat on 2-3 layers of clear glitter by itself for that minimal chic look that doesn’t scream, “Hey, I’m trying to be 15 again”. A few “mature” favorites: Butter London’s Rosie Lee, Formula X Explosives in Bionic, and Nails Inc. Winter Lights in Royal Avenue.
