What’s the Deal with Facial Cleansing Oils?

They’re pretty much the new cleansing craze

We put you on to facial cleansing tools last week, but today, we need you to understand that your next, best face cleanse may be in the form of an oil. Many women with acne prone skin or even oily skin may look at this piece and immediately turn away. But we need you to listen for a moment.

Facial cleansing oils are becoming the new craze because the method of how they work is beyond amazing. You see, these cleansers don’t actually add more oil to your skin. They, instead, help wash away the “bad oils” so that they can leave behind the “good oils”. All the while, cleaning your skin of it’s impurities, dirt, grime and makeup.

The facial oil gently pulls out dirt and grime, washing it away and reveals soft, subtle and clean skin. Oil cleansers also work to restore the natural pH balance, preventing any oil production overload.

So you’re probably wondering: what are these “oils” in these cleansers? The majority of them are botanical oils. From safflower to almond to even grape seed, the oils are natural and effective. There are also many extracts included in the facial oil formulas. Green tea and jasmine take the top spots of the most used oils and vitamin e is a top addition to many formulas as well.

While many women with acne prone skin or oily skin run to the arms of oil-free cleansers, it’s actually best that they not do so. Oil-free formulas have the tendency to strip our skin of natural oils, leaving the skin dry and dull. There’s nothing cute about that.

If you’ve been wondering about the facial oil craze, we hope this satisfies your appetite. And, if you’re ready to get your hands on a few great products, below is a list of our favorite products.
