More and more American women are enhancing their assets, report finds

From K. Michelle to SWV’s LeLee Lyons, it looks like more and more American women are seeking to enhance their assets.

New findings from the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) show that “Brazilian butt lifts” are on the rise. The procedure, which consists of taking fat from another part of the body and injected into the backside, has seen a 16 percent increase in 2013.

This news speaks to a growing culture of women who desire a more voluptuous butt. With the praising of women like Beyonce and Nicki Minaj for their booty, one could imagine the pressures for them to emulate.

ASPS reports that nearly 10,000 “buttock augmentations with fat grafting” were performed around the country. Unlike butt lifts, however, other cosmetic producers such as nose jobs, laser hair removal and liposuction have actually declined. Nonetheless, overall plastic surgeries - over 15 million to be exact - increased by 3 percent from 2012.
