JAY Z is following in the footsteps of his equally famous wife Beyoncé, diving head first into the fragrance business-- and he's looking to make a major splash.
Parlux Ltd. president Donald J. Loftus says the marketing behind the fragrance will be nothing like we've ever seen before.
"We are going to make a big noise," he said. "For the 30 days before Christmas, it will be impossible not to know he has a fragrance."
The UK's Telegraph notes:
"In place of print advertising, Gold Jay Z will be flaunting itself between digital and outdoor advertising in a big way. Macy's, for the first time, has given the gold man and his scent two weeks in a window (their largest). The window display at 34th street will reflect the image of the a golden avatar on to the person looking at it from the sidewalk, while a 15-second video inside the store will show Jay Z morphing into a gold neck chain, then cap, and then fragrance bottle."
The fragrance was created by Ilias Ermendis of Firmenich and is said to be of "superior quality."
And good news, folks: the fragrance won't break the bank. The price of the smallest bottle will go for $39-- the perfect item for stocking stuffers.
